Family Promise in Union County revives emergency housing program

In 1986, Family Promise started a novel program in Union County, providing emergency shelter for homeless families by utilizing space inside local houses of worship and recruiting volunteers to cook meals. The program, originally known as the Interfaith Hospitality Network, has expanded across the nation. Today it has 179 affiliates in 41 states.
