Elizabeth, NJ —, 25 late Friday, Union County First Assistant Prosecutor Albert Cernadas Jr. said. A 25-year-old Marchkenson Flobert died  and a woman was wounded in a stabbing on an Elizabeth street last night, officials said.

Authorities say Merilan and Flobert got into a fight on the 500 block of Walnut Street, leading to the stabbing, authorities said. It was not known what sparked the fight.

A woman was also stabbed in the altercation and remained hospitalized Saturday with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Authorities would not say, though, whether the injured woman was Flobert’s girlfriend.

Merilan’s bail was set at $200,000, Cernadas said. The investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force is continuing and additional charges are possible.
