Three young boys were the victims of a strong-arm robbery of a cellphone yesterday in Roselle Park, Police said.

What is this?

The boys were walking home from Roselle Park Elementary School at 3:15 p.m. on the corner of East Grant Avenue and Sherman Avenue when they were approached by two 15-year-old and 16-year-old suspects, Sgt. Dominick Frino said.

The suspects, described as two black males, demanded one boy to hand over a wallet and cellphone, he said.

They were unable to retrieve the items from one boy but stole another’s cell phone before fleeing on foot, he said.

One of the boys was tackled to the ground by the suspect and had minor injuries, he said.

Police arrested the 16-year-old shortly after spotting him on Berwyn Street and East Westfield Avenue, Frino said.

The 15-year-old fled to Roselle and was caught after a foot chase over a few fences, Frino said.

Both of them were in the Union County Juvenile Detention Center.
